What is a Hero WOD?

There are many people who selflessly dedicate their lives for the safety of others. Sadly, everyday some of these lives are lost saving ones in need, enforcing the law, and fighting for their country.
CrossFit is deeply rooted in the Military, Fire, and Police Departments as a functional training regimen to adapt to the physical demands of their positions. It is unparalleled in its ability to prepare for varying physical tasks and the challenges associated with them.
A Hero WOD is a workout to memorialize a fallen person from the Military, Fire, or Police, who was killed in the line of duty. These honored heroes were also CrossFitters themselves, which resonates deeply throughout the community.
Hero WODs are meant to be harder than most CrossFit WODs, and are designed to test physically and mentally. They are meant to make you look inside, honor someone who gave their life, and thank them for their sacrifice.
A Hero WOD is much more than a workout: it’s an appreciation of what you have, what you are able to do, and what others have sacrificed for you. The next time you perform a Hero WOD, take a minute to reflect on it’s true meaning, and be grateful for what others have done for you.
